The Department of Information & Public Relations Minister, James K. Sangma today inaugurated the Fixed Audio System of the DIPR at Shillong, East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya. The programme was attended by M. War Nongbri, IAS, Secretary of Information & Public Relations, East Khasi Hills District; R. Nongkhlaw, Deputy Director of Information & Public Relations and other senior officials of the Department.
Addressing the occasion, James K. Sangma said that COVID- 19 pandemic has taught all of us the importance of having credible and timely information. Fixed Audio System will strengthen the mechanism of delivering quick and timely information to the public regarding government orders, policies, subsidies, immunization drives, health camps and other welfare schemes.
James Sangma applauded the efforts of the Department in achieving this milestone in successfully implementing the project which will help DIPR to communicate and connect with each and every citizen of the State in a better way.
The minister also expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma for sanctioning the budget for the project. DIPR was able to carry out the necessary action to successfully implement the Fixed Audio System only after the approval from the CM. He further stated that this initiative is in line with the vision of the department in publicizing different programmes, welfare measures and developmental activities for the benefit of the people.
M. War Nongbri, IAS, Secretary, DIPR stated that with the installation of the Fixed Audio System, announcements can be made to single or multiple speakers as per requirements. She also urged the Minister in charge to come up with such initiatives and projects in different districts of the State for the benefit of the general public.
Nongkhlaw, Deputy Director, DIPR while delivering his vote of thanks, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his pro-active approach on the project. He also gave credit to Melamiaki Infracon for successfully implementing the project and for installing Internet Protocol (IP) powered speakers at 21 strategic locations around Shillong.
