We started our struggle 29 years ago with an ideology, and based on our ideology we are carrying forward our struggle. Unlike other organisations who were just born without ideologies that made it easier for them to surrender. The statement of CM regarding his negativity to hold any political dialogues with us is just a ploy to derail our motivation towards peace talks. By making such irresponsible contradictory statements the CM exhibits his child-like and dictatorial behaviour. He wants to portray that he is the boss of the MUA 2 and nobody in the cabinet has a right to go against his dictatorial powers. The HNLC offers its gratitude to the leader of HNYF Sadon Blah , KHNAM Youth Wing President Thomas Passah, KSU and UDP’s MLA Embhah Syiemlieh for raising their concerns on the adamant attitude of the CM in connection with peace talks. We wonder why our Khasi Jaintia MLAs are keeping mum in this issue. They are letting the CM take them away for a ride.
The disbanding ceremonies of ANVC, ANVC (B), and UALA proves beyond doubt that only Garo outfits are capable of entering into peace talks with the CM. The CM should not forget the statements of Late PK Sangma, whereby he had termed the CM as the chairman of all militant outfits in the G hills. This was indeed a prophecy which seems to be fulfilled day by day. The CM addresses us as Militants one the one hand and doesn’t hesitate to shake hands of the Garo militant leaders on the other hand with pomp gaiety and show. Maybe the CM had swallowed all funds that were sanctioned by the MHA for the ANVC and ANVC (B). The CM had inked peace talks with Garo outfits just for his personal motives and gains.
Now it should be clear to the people of khasi Jaintia hills that we the HNLC had tried our level best to prove our sincerity to obtain peace and harmony, but were provoked by the negative attitude of the CM to choose the violent path. Earlier we were not taken seriously as it appeared to the CM that we were less in numbers. Now we are being labelled as militants because we have attained military might. How long will the CM fool the people of Khasi Jaintia hills and empower only his own community.
The CM has now painted his campaign as a communal one. This attitude of the CM shall bring in his downfall. The Home Minister is also mum on the issue of our proposed talks. It was due to the assurance of the CM and the Home minister that we had waited for long for the appointment of an interlocutor. Now it seems that we have been fooled all along. This game of lies has made things murkier and bitter. How can we achieve peace and harmony when the leader of a state is a liar, dictator and manipulator?
At the beginning of 2015 we had ample hope in the CM for nurturing the peace talks and lead the stare towards peace and development. But the contradictory statements of the CM has turned the tables. Now that we have hope in the PM and Kiran Rijiju of solving our problem for a political dialogue, we have decided not to boycott this year’s ID celebrations as a gesture and proof that we want peace .This step is taken to convince the PM that we are open to commitment on peace irrespective of what the CM of Meghalaya thinks or does. The CM is against peace talks because he wants to use the surrendered cadres as his puppets like it is done in Garo hills.
The CM had used all the surrendered cadres to monopolize business in Garo hills. He had mobilised and used them for political gains and election campaigns. The case of Deborah is an example of militant politico nexus. The CM himself is a nexus to militants but wants to order a probe. If the entire episode is properly investigated and honestly probed then only can we expose the two faces of the CM. We stand firm to the principles of our ideology, we stand to defend the rights of our people and our soil. Simply surrendering like newborn outfits should not be expected at any cost. If the GOI is willing then we are ready to go for a political dialogue with the GOI and according to its instructions. The CM’s ego is more important to him than anything else. Let him live with his ego, but we as an organisation of armed struggle shall keep the interests of our ‘Jaidbynriew’ as our sole and primary concern.
