Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls
Shillong: The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya has informed that the Election Commission of India has fixed the programme for the special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with 01-01-2016 as qualifying date. The revised period for the Draft Publication of Electoral Rolls is on 16-10-2015 and period for filing of claims and objections is from 16-10-2015 to 10-11-2015.
Reading of relevant part/section of photo electoral rolls in Garm Sabha/Local Bodies and RWA meetings etc., and verification of names is on 20-10-2015 and 05-11-2015. The special campaign dates with Booth Level Agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections is fixed on 24-10-2015 and 31-10-2015 and disposal of claims and objections by 5-12-2015.
Updating the database, merging of photographs, updating the control tables and preparation and printing of supplementary list by 23-12-2015 and final publication of Electoral Rolls is on 11-01-2016. (MIPR)
Prohibitory Order
Shillong: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills has promulgated an order under section 144 Cr.P.C. in order to safeguard the environment, prohibiting dumping/throwing of garbage all along Mawiong-Umjapung surrounding and including the NH-40 passing through the locality upto Umiam Lake.
In view of the urgency of the matter, this order shall come into force with immediate effect and until further orders. (MIPR)

Shillong: the Chief Engineer State Sports Council, Meghalaya has inform that the Tirot Sing Indoor hall at Lower Lachumiere and Gymnasium-cum-Indoor Sports Hall at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Polo are temporarily closed with immediate effect for renovation works in connection with the ensuing South Asian Games.(MIPR)
