Shillong: Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, Dr. D. D. Lapang inaugurated the Greater Umden Combined Water Supply Scheme at Lumdieng Village under the Umden area on 14th September, 2015 in presence of Smti B. Lyndem, SE, PHE, Shri D. Umdor, EE, PHE, Shri S. Nadon, EE, PHE, Shri Vincent Syiem, Syiem of Raid Nongtluh, Shri C. B. Syiem, ex-CEM of KHADC and others. The programme was also attended by local leaders of various villages, headmen, teachers and school children among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lapang lauded the PHE Department for their efforts in implementing the scheme. He further expressed his appreciation to the local leaders of the area and the people at large for extending their support and cooperation. Dr Lapang also stated that water being the basic necessity of the people, the State Government is trying its best to cater to the needs of the people. He urged the people to utilize the scheme that has been made available to them for their greater benefit. Dr. Lapang also thanked the headmasters, headmistress and teachers of various schools present during the programme and stated that education holds the top criteria in human lives and it is with education that poverty, illiteracy and illness can be eradicated from the society.
The Scheme was funded by Accelerated Rural Water Supply Scheme Programme (ARWSSP) at a sanctioned amount of Rs. 3, 12, 68,700/- (Rupees Three Crores Twelve Lakhs Sixty Eight Thousand Seven Hundred) and this scheme covers eight villages under the Umden area. (MIPR)

Tura: The District Election Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura has informed that the Final Publication of Electoral Roll for 6–Barengapara, 7–Babelapara, 8-Amongpara, 9-Tura, 10-Dengnakpara, 15-Rochonpara, 16-Asanang, 17-Balachanda, 18-Batabari, 19-Shyamnagar, 20-Raksamgre, 21-Naguapara, 22-Jengjal Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Constituencies has been prepared with reference to 01-01-2015 as the qualifying date and in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. A copy of the said roll together with the list of additions has been published and will be available at District Election office for inspection. (MIPR)
