Prohibitory Order
Shillong: The District Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh has passed a Prohibitory Order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting dumping of waste/garbage along the road side of NH-40 and other roads within Ri Bhoi District.
This order has been issued inview that some unknown person illegally dumped garbage in an open areas by vehicle during midnight along the road side of National Highway and other roads which is likely to cause air and water pollution and health hazard to human life and pose serious ecological destruction and also detrimental to natural beauty of the district.
This order shall come into force with immediate effect and will continue to remain so until further order. (MIPR)
Mawiong Umjapung Cleaning Drive
Shillong: The Clean Mawiong Umjapung Advisory Committee and the Executive Durbar of the Mawiong Umjapung, Shillong will be organizing a Cleaning Drive operation of the locality on 2nd October, 2015 from 9:00 AM onwards. The Cleaning Drive will cover areas of the NH-40 passing through the locality which has of late become an eyesore as a result of the throwing and dumping of garbage mostly from moving vehicles.
The cleaning operation will also cover other public places in which students of all the schools, teachers, women, VDP members including Government establishments in the locality will participate in line with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for sensitizing the community towards achieving a clean and healthy habitat.
